WHAT IS VITAMIN C (ASCORBIC ACID) TEST?
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin found in citrus fruits and leafy (raw) vegetables and tomatoes. It is absorbed from the diet through the small intestine and stored in the adrenal glands, kidney, spleen, liver, and leukocytes. Excess amounts of the vitamin are excreted in the urine. Vitamin C is important in cellular structure, collagen synthesis, capillary integrity, wound healing, intestinal iron absorption, and resistance to infection.
