WHAT IS STREPTOZYME TEST?

A nonspecific screening test for the detection of antibodies to multiple exoenzymes of various species of streptococci using a commercial reagent containing erythrocytes coated with streptococcal antigens (DNase, streptokinase, streptolysin O, and hyaluronidase). This test can determine current or recent streptococcal infection earlier than the ASO titer, but it cannot determine the location or type of streptococcal infection. In a positive test, antibodies begin increasing by week 3 after infection and decrease by week 10.
