WHAT IS SEMEN ANALYSIS TEST?
Semen consists of spermatozoa in seminal plasma, which provides a nutritive medium for conveying the sperm to the endocervical mucus. The components of semen are obtained from the testes, seminal vesicles, prostate, epididymis, vas deferens, bulbourethral glands, and urethral glands. Because the interpretation is derived from microscopic visualization, the literature discusses common problems with inter-operator reliability in interpretation of the results. Some computerized systems are being tested for semen analysis.
