WHAT IS METHYLPHENIDATE TEST?
Methylphenidate (Ritalin) is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant and antidepressant that presumably activates brainstem and cortex arousal. Methylphenidate is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is distributed throughout the body. Its actions appear in about 1 hour after ingestion and last up to 6 hours. The drug is completely metabolized in the liver to inactive products that are excreted in the urine. Tolerance to the CNS and peripheral effects develops with continued use.
