Protein IgG is the major immunoglobulin of blood that possesses antibody activity against viruses, some bacteria, and toxins. It is the only immunoglobulin that crosses the placenta. Used to evaluate humoral immunity, monitor therapy in IgA G myeloma, and evaluate clients, especially those with a propensity to infections.
