Depresses motor cortex and elevates central nervous system threshold to stimuli. I have absorbed from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The half-life of 40-60 hours in adults and 30-50 hours in children metabolised by the liver and excreted slowly in the urine. Steady-state levels are reached after 8-12 days in adults and 6-10 days in children.
