WHAT IS CODEINE TEST?

Codeine is a schedule II narcotic analgesic used for relief of mild to moderate pain and as an antitussive. Codeine is also found in combination with other analgesics in schedule III and IV medications. Drug effects of codeine are doserelated. It is metabolised by the liver and excreted as norcodeine and conjugated morphine by the kidneys, with a half-life of 2.5-4.0 hours. Codeine can induce pancreatitis and manic, psychotic episodes.
